Welcome to Seven on Shelter Island

Seven is open for the Summer 2020

Read about our reopening in Forbes Magazine.

Our most important consideration is the health and well-being of our community, and as the COVID-19 situation evolves, we continue to update our policies and procedures with guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the World Health Organization (WHO). Self check in is in place, contact-less payments are available, staff and guests are wearing masks indoors and maintaining six feet social distancing.  Surfaces and handles are disinfected frequently, hand sanitizer is available in public areas, and frequent hand washing is encouraged. An Ultra Violet Disinfectant lamp is placed in each guest room to sterilize the room between guests.  Several local establishments including restaurants, ice cream shops, mini golf, public golf, The Mashomack Preserve, and our beautiful beaches and inlets are all available to visitors to Shelter Island to enjoy.  Long term stays are encouraged at SEVEN - inquire for details.

Mornings start with a TO GO style Beach Breakfast Basket filled with fresh fruit, granola, creamy yogurt, artisanal cheese, local hard boiled organic eggs, freshly baked chocolate croissants and baguettes with gourmet jams. You may enjoy quiet moments in one of our many private spaces throughout the property including a large front porch, a spacious balcony on the second level (perfect with a good book) or on the surrounding grounds - with plenty of the outdoor seating.  Bikes area also available for let.  And you may enjoy your breakfast picnic basket at Crescent Beach, just down the hill from Seven, where you also enjoy magnificent sunsets.

This newly restored award winning inn nails the 21st-century bed-and-breakfast formula, providing guests with a low-key hideaway while offering all the luxuries a modern globetrotter needs including sustainable toiletries (from Cold Spring Apothecary), walk-in well designed tile showers, flat-screen TVs and quality beds topped with goose-down comforters and colorful throw pillows from Capetown. The classic 1902 whitewashed farmhouse is filled with contemporary art, and arresting kinetic sculptures. Guests help themselves to rental bicycles, play a lazy game of croquet, or toast marshmallows over the fire.

Get a taste of the Hamptons culinary scene without the velvet-rope mentality at two of the island’s casual-but-top-notch dining spots. Head to 18 Bay, which is set in a 19th-century farmhouse and offers a weekly changing Italian tasting menu that features hand-rolled pasta and produce from local purveyors.  Or Hamptons chic Vine Street Cafe where seasonally influenced menus reflect the local resources of farmers, fishermen and winemakers.

If gathering your own provisions is more your bag, make your way to Sylvester Manor, the beloved c. 1652 homestead whose organic farm and arts and education center are a hub for locals. Talking of the arts, try to catch a concert at the Shelter Island campus of the Itzhak Perlman Music Program, which nurtures talented young music students. Performances are conducted by Perlman himself, who sometimes joins in on violin.
