Itzhak Perlman Music ProgramA short walk from Seven famed violinist , Itzhak Perlman "has created .. a musical utopia on Shelter Island with the Perlman Music Program.. quite possibly one of the coolest things you can do in the Hamptons and it should not be missed. Underneath a big white tent, students (but really, really ridiculously talented students) perform beautiful classical music, all of which is conducted by Perlman, who quite frequently joins in on his violin for a few songs as well.

Sylvester Manor Educational Farm and Community 21 Manwaring Road featuring Catapano Dairy cheese and yogurt selections, Blue Duck Bakery assorted breads, Murray’s Cheese variety, Edible East End Magazine (free!) and other local artisan products made right here on Shelter Island.  Check their schedule and hours of operation for more information at including concerts and events.

Hiking, walking, or cross country skiing in Mashomack Preserve is a natural area of nearly 2,100 acres encompassing diverse habitats necessary for the survival of many species of plans and animals, and comprising one third of Shelter Island.  Edged in white by 10 miles of coastline the preserve is a n area of magnificent scenic beauty featuring interlacing tidal creeks, woodlands, fields and coastline to create a superb wildlife habitat. No bikes, no dogs; please.

A lovely drive or bike ride:  we suggest Nostram Parkway to Bootleggers Alley, then continue onto Shell Beach for a stroll.  Also visit the private Village of Dering Harbor with its exclusive 32 residents, and then head to Ram Island, and the historic Ram’s Head Inn.

A nice short walk on a dirt road, in the woods, with a view out over the bay is conveniently accessible across the street, off of the golf course, on Serpentine Drive.  Turn right on Stearns Point Road, cross Shore Road, and turn left onto Serpentine Drive for a nice loop back via Prospect.
